A Full Schedule for Incoming and Current Students of Pollenzo, between Bra and Turin

The week beginning September 17 is overflowing with events and activities for the Pollenzo community.
First of all, the incoming students of the undergraduate and graduate programs have arrived. This group includes about 140 students coming from Italy, Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, Colombia, Cuba, Denmark, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Germany, India, Israel, the Netherlands, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Uganda, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Venezuela. A fresh injection of diversity for the Pollenzo university, which ranks among the Italian universities attracting the highest number of enrolled foreign students.
The activities for new students in the days of Monday the 17th, Tuesday the 18th, and Wednesday the 19th of September include a welcome on behalf of the university’s faculty and staff, with the presentation of courses, university services, research projects, various student groups, and everything connected to student life in Pollenzo and Bra.
Students will be welcomed by Andrea Pieroni, Dean of UNISG, and by Carlo Petrini, President of the University, who will introduce them to the spirit and philosophy of the community.
From Thursday the 20th until Monday the 24th of September, all UNISG students will be immersed in the whirlwind of activity of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto, which takes place at Turin’s Lingotto Fiere.
The schedule of events connected with UNISG within the Turin exhibition is rich and diverse. First and foremost is the large university stand situated within the Oval Pavillion, which will be the central location for anyone connected with UNISG. All of the activities are visible here >
Wednesday, September 19, on the other hand, marks the first session of autumn graduations, which will see the presentation of theses by two graduate students and thirteen undergraduate students.
The following are the titles of their dissertations.
Graduate Program
Giada Menabò, 26 years old from Alessandria, will discuss the thesis entitled "Food and Italian Colonialism," advised by Professor Simone Cinotto.
Celeste Perrone, 23 years old from Mazzè (Turin), will discuss the thesis entitled "The Role of Food in Starred Restaurants and the Concept of Food Curation,” advised by Professor Nicola Perullo.
Undergraduate Program
Carlo Cavicchioli, 23 years old from Modena, will discuss the thesis entitled "Evaluation of the Impact of the Circular Economy on the Business of Cavicchioli U. and Sons,” advised by Professor Franco Fassio.
Matteo Dabbene, 21 years old from Milan, will discuss the thesis entitled "How the Elements that Create the Dining Room of a Restaurant Influence the Overall Experience a Client has During a Dinner,” advised by Professor Nicola Perullo.
Martina De Felice, 23 years old from Mediglia (Milan) will discuss the thesis entitled "The Prison Food System: Critiques and Legislative and Anthropological Perspectives. The Relationship with Food in a Total Institution,” advised by Professor Lorenzo Bairati.
Markus Dramisino, 24 years old from Bergamo, will discuss the thesis entitled "Integrated Rice Duck Farming,” advised by Professor Gabriele Volpato.
Davide Fede, 27 years old from Modica (Ragusa), will discuss the thesis "Analysis of Urban Food Systems: The Manifest of the Gastrocitizen,” advised by Professor Franco Fassio.
Giulia Fiore, 21 years old from Milan, will discuss the thesis entitled "Promotion of Healthy Dietary Habits in Elementary School: The Role of the Gastronome in a Holistic Approach to Primary Prevention,” advised by Professor Andrea Pezzana.
Amelia Madeleine Lisacek, 28 years old of French and Australian origin, will discuss the thesis entitled "How to Improve the Protective Effect of Infant Formula," advised by Professor Claudia Picozzi.
Okech Duncan Okoth, 25 years old from Kenya, will discuss the thesis entitled "Intervention Model for Sustainable Households Food Security in the Arid and Semi-Arid Lands in Kenya. Case Study in Makueni District," advised by Professor Paola Migliorini.
Lapo Querci, 30 years old from Florence, will discuss the thesis entitled "Animal Welfare in Italian Pig Farming: The Cinta Senese,” advised by Professor Silvestro Greco.
Stefano Trabucchi, 22 years old from Cerro Maggiore (Milan), will discuss the thesis entitled "The Chestnut Gall Wasp in the Area of Verbano Cusio Ossola,” advised by Professor Gabriele Volpato.
Alice Valenzano, 22 years old from Turin, will discuss the thesis entitled "WTF: What the Food and Research on New Communication Methods,” advised by Professor Franco Fassio.
Camilla-Maria Sophie Dorothé Von Burgsdorff, 23 years old from Switzerland, will discuss the thesis entitled "The Montado Ecosystem in the Alentejo Region of Portugal: An Argument for a Future Sustainable Gastronomic Identity and Income Stream," advised by Professor Roberta Cevasco.
Andrea Christina Worotikan, 22 years old from Indonesia, will discuss the thesis entitled "The Effects of Musical Sound on our Taste Perception Towards Food and Beverages,” advised by Professor Nicola Perullo.
