First Graduation Day for UNISG Master Students on Friday September 29


The 48 students who on Friday September 29 will celebrate their first Graduation Day and receive their diplomas from the University of Gastronomic Sciences come from Austria, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland, Taiwan, Tanzania, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The students, who were enrolled in one of the two streams (Food Ecologies and Sovereignty or Food Cultures and Mobility) of the Master of Gastronomy: Food in the World will have discussed their theses during the two days prior to the ceremony. Then on Friday at 10am they will gather in the courtyard of the Agenzia di Pollenzo, garbed in the traditional graduation robes and caps, before heading in a procession to the Aula Magna at 11am. The proclamation will take place in the Aula Magna from 11.15am

Here are their names and theses.

Dominika Ewa Abramowicz, 27, from Poland, is presenting the thesis "Cooking without borders - perspectives, geographic proximity and cultural differences from two women's point of view."

Kirstyn Cassandra Allen, 28, from Canada, is presenting the thesis "The Social Side of Digital Activism: Feeding the World One Click at a Time."

Autumn Leigh Azure, 40, from the United States, is presenting the thesis "Culinary Creativity and the Fair-Trade Model: Exploring Quality of Life Through the Kitchen."

Charles Mead Barstow, 29, from the United States, is presenting the thesis "Weeds and Wheat: An exploration of associated floristic diversity in a multi-variety wheat test field."

Tiffany Nicole Bassford, 33, from the United States, is presenting the thesis "The Metabolism of Passion: Reframing the American Table and How We Come to It."

Matthieu Camille Lorenzo Baudoin Lelaurain, 23, from France, is presenting the thesis "The evolution of sake, the shift from a national drink of identity to a niche market; attractiveness and promotion of the cultural product."

Shira Rose Ben Shmuel, 29, from Israel, is presenting the thesis "Knives and Needles: Chefs, Tattoos and Capital in Professional Kitchens."

Alida Borgna, 26, from Italy/United States, is presenting the thesis "Social Entrepreneurship as a Viable Model for Conflict Resolution and Sustainable Development in Lebanon."

Tien Tuanhanh Bui, 37, from the United States, is presenting the thesis "Seaweed is Life: The Healing Power of Seaweed."

Arianna Cantarutti, 24, from Italy, is presenting the thesis "Sustainable gastronomy in the restaurant and hotel industry: the potential of food to fight climate change. A case study from France."

Yu-Wen Chen, 27, from Taiwan, is presenting the thesis "The Past and the Present of Cinnamon Roll: The Analysis and the Comparison from History and the Samples Around the World."

Chopra Chetna, 26, from India, is presenting the thesis "Sustainable coffee agroforestry and coffee terroir: if affects on the final cupping quality."

Genevieve Elizabeth Crum, 24, from the United States, is presenting the thesis "The New Gastronomy: To care about food is to care about people."
