The Board of Directors of the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo has approved an ambitious program of investments to equip the university with advanced information technology tools, to improve the teaching and the level of service provided for the students and bring UNISG up to the standards of the best international universities.

MyUNISG app

MyUNISG is the official app for the University of Gastronomic Sciences, designed primarily for students but also available to other users who want to stay informed about the Pollenzo university’s educational activities.

A number of services can be accessed through the app: a calendar of exams and exam session registration dates, an academic calendar with a class timetable, a record of grades, averages and statistics relating to exams and payment status.

It will also show all of the educational options on offer, as well as notifications, communications and announcements and provide a way to access the university’s social media profiles.

The app can also electronically record the student’s presence in class to register attendance.

Available in Italian and English, the app is available for Android and iOS.

Blackboard e-learning

During the 2017-2018 academic year, we will also be implementing the e-learning software Blackboard, the leading platform in the education world, used by universities, businesses and institutions in over 100 countries.

In around six months, all of the courses offered in Pollenzo will be able to benefit from a Blackboard platform which will support the traditional teaching offered in class. Thanks to this platform, adopted by top universities worldwide, at any time students will be able to access virtual classes where they can consult teaching material, watch videos of the lessons, participate in group work and get feedback from lecturers.

2018 will also see the implementation of Blackboard’s Collaborate, one of the best applications for video conferences: The development of this new technology will form the basis for the “diffuse university” promoted by UNISG’s president, Carlo Petrini.

WEDO

From September 2017, UNISG will use an innovative system to record student attendance, based on the use of mobile devices. The system, known as Presences, is an innovation on the Italian education market and has been developed for UNISG by the software house WEDO.
