10 Aprile 2017

From June 10 to 12, 2017, UNISG will be holding the first-ever Migranti Film Festival, an event dedicated to the theme of migrations, with a particular focus on second-generation young people, coexistence, identity and multiculturality.

The project has arisen out of the UNISG Cinema Lab, a place where audiovisual narrations relating to the world of food are developed and an integral part of the university’s teaching methodology.

Six feature-length films and eight shorts will be selected to be in competition, and other films will also be screened out of competition. The competition sections will give space to new languages and most of all to the audiovisual practice of participatory video, a tool that involves an entire community in the production of a film. The aim of participatory video is to bring about social change or individual transformation.

The theme chosen for 2017 is the universal value of “Coexistence,” represented by ways of understanding each other through different cultures, languages and religions and their minglings, including gastronomic. During the three days of the festival, Pollenzo will host numerous activities and events. As well as film screenings, there will also be discussions with scholars, journalists, professors, researchers, students and migrant-directors to explore the issues raised by the films. Tastings of food from migrant communities, live music events and workshops will also be organized.
