Looking at the traditional dishes of Turkish cuisine, this presentation will explore their similarities with other “traditional” dishes considered classic in Italy and the rest of the Mediterranean area.

The purpose is to rethink the meaning of an “original” dish or recipe, taking a new, multicultural approach.

Can the popularity of Italian food around the world be explained by the fact that the cuisine was strongly influenced by different cultures and populations?

Can the study of food culture give us the strength to show that cultural contamination can be key to breaking down cultural barriers in an era constantly seeking to put up new walls?
