29 October 2026
Applications open until 15 November 2026
The University of Gastronomic Sciences (UNISG) is launching the Working Group on Global Food Security (WG-GFS).
The new platform - supervised by Prof. Donatella Saccone, and coordinated by Research Fellow Dina Mowad - brings together UNISG students, researchers and faculty to work on research, education and policy engagement on food security.
Through seminars and workshops, reading groups, policy simulations and policy brief writing, as well as dialogues with policymakers, civil society and international institutions, participants will explore some of the most pressing challenges of the global food system.
The Working Group's activities are organised around four thematic pillars:
- Food Security and Governance: national and regional strategies, food crisis response
- Climate Change and Food Security: adaptation, water governance, agroecological transitions
- Trade, Markets and Geopolitics: supply chain vulnerabilities, food trade networks and policy
- Food Access: food poverty, gender issues, rural livelihoods and community resilience
Call for participation
The Working Group is open to all UNISG students, from any program. No prior experience is required, only curiosity and a commitment to engage with food security issues. Interested students can apply by 15 November 2026 through the application form. The date and venue of the launch meeting, which is yet to be confirmed, will be announced to all applicants.
