On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 11:00 am, at the Sala Rossa of the Albergo dell'Agenzia (Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, 9 – Pollenzo), the Inauguration Ceremony of the Academic Year 2025/2026 of the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo will take place.

The ceremony will open with an address by the Rector, Nicola Perullo, followed by greetings from the Student Representatives, Elisa Carone and Emma Maria Deandrea, testifying to the central role of the student community in the life of the University.

The key moment of the morning will be the Lectio Magistralis by the guest of honor Paolo Vineis, Professor of Environmental Epidemiology at Imperial College London and Member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, entitled "Food, environment and health: are we at a turning point?".

The ceremony will conclude with an address by the President of UNISG, Carlo Petrini, who will outline the University's future prospects in the context of contemporary cultural, social and environmental challenges.
The event represents a solemn and symbolic moment for the University of Pollenzo, an occasion for meeting and discussion on the founding values of the University of Gastronomic Sciences and its commitment to interdisciplinary and responsible knowledge.


Paolo Vineis

Paolo Vineis is full professor of Environmental Epidemiology at Imperial College London.
He conducts research in the field of molecular epidemiology, particularly on epigenetics and on biomarkers derived from the use of omic platforms. He also conducts research on the health effects of climate change.
He has been coordinator of projects funded by the European Commission: Exposomics (on the molecular effects of air pollution) and Lifepath (H2020, on socioeconomic inequalities and aging).
He is also coordinator or co-investigator in other international projects and co-PI of the NIHR Centre for non-communicable diseases in Low and Middle-Income Countries.
He is a member of the Accademia dei Lincei. He has more than 1200 publications in scientific journals to his credit, and is the author of various books.
