BIOGRAPHY

Sara Casartelli is a medical anthropologist with a Research Master's in Social Sciences from the University of Amsterdam. She earned her PhD in Applied Social Sciences (36th cycle) from the Department of Social Sciences and Economics at the University of Rome, La Sapienza. She has also been a visiting scholar at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut (USA).

Trained in both qualitative and quantitative multidisciplinary methods, her research explores the complex interplay between medicine, technology, and society. She is particularly interested in how identity is shaped through and in relation to the human body.

Positioned at the intersection of political anthropology and sociology of health, her academic interests span the sociology of the body, biomedical practices, the anthropology of science, and feminist science and technology studies. In parallel with her academic research, she has developed expertise in qualitative consulting for global clinical trials.
