Requirements and Admissions

(Framework A3.a RAD - SUA-CdS)

The Graduate Degree in Food Industry Management is proposed as a multidisciplinary course of study, focusing on the topics of gastronomic sciences declined from the perspective of sustainable product, process and consumption innovation management. The Graduate Degree is established with programmed access, defined annually. Applicants for admission to the Program will be evaluated on the basis of the personal dossier and an online analytical test. The course of study is designed to take into account the knowledge actually possessed by students who have completed a bachelor's degree at Italian or international universities and are interested in developing a master's degree in gastronomic sciences.

The admission requirements for students who have earned an academic degree at an Italian university and students who have earned their degree at a foreign university are detailed below.

Students who have earned an academic degree at an Italian university
Graduates holding a bachelor's degree from the following degree classes:
L-4 – Industrial Design
L-5 – Philosophy
L-9 – Industrial Engineering
L-10 - Humanities
L-12 - Language Mediation
L-14 - Legal services science
L-15 - Tourism Science
L-16 - Administration and organization science
L-18 - Science of economics and business management

L-25 - Agricultural and forestry science and technology

L-GASTR - Gastronomy Sciences, Cultures and Policies

and degree classes as indicated in Ministerial Decree DM August 4, 2000.
- graduates holding a single-cycle master's degree awarded within the LMG/01 - Class of Master's Degrees in Law.

Those who possess three-year Bachelor degrees (or equivalent) different from those indicated above, may also be admitted, pending approval by the Academic Council, provided they have obtained at least 40 credits (either at the Bachelor or Master level), of which:

• At least 15 credits in the scientific areas of economic, social and political sciences: SECS-P/01 - Political Economy; SECS-P/02 - Economic Policy; SECS-P/06 - Applied Economics; SECS-P/07 – Corporate Economics; SECS-P/08 - Corporate Economics and Management; SECS-P/10 - Corporate Organization; SECS-P / 13 – Merchandising; SPS/04 Political Science; SPS/06 – History of International Relations; SPS/07 - General Sociology; SPS /08 - Sociology of Cultural and Communication Processes; SPS/09 - Economic and Labor Sociology; SPS /10 – Regional and Environmental Sociology; M-GGR/02 Political and Economic Geography.
• the remaining 25 credits in the scientific areas listed below:

Those in possession of other valid non-Italian degrees may still apply, pending approval by the competent bodies of the University.
All applicants must have English language proficiency at a B2 level.

International students who earned their degrees abroad

International applicants who have acquired a valid and recognized first-cycle degree (university level) are eligible for selection.
Students must hold a Bachelor's degree (first-cycle undergraduate degree) that must be eligible and valid for entry into a second-cycle degree (Master of Science program).
The degree (Bachelor's degree/undergraduate program) of origin must have the following characteristics:

• 180 educational credits (ECTS);
• a duration of at least 3 years;
• equivalent to an Italian degree program;
• issued by a foreign university recognized by the educational system of the issuing country, enabling further study in a postgraduate program (Level II)

The competent bodies of the University reserve the right to assess the suitability of the candidates' qualifications, even if they have partially different characteristics from the above.

All applicants must have English language proficiency at a B2 level

• Candidates in possession of, or in the process of obtaining a three-year undergraduate degree from one of the Italian universities indicated in the “Required Academic Qualifications for Access to the Graduate Degree”
  Upon graduation, such candidates must submit a self-certification of their undergraduate degree.
• Candidates in possession of, or in the process of obtaining a three-year undergraduate degree from a non-Italian university accredited in an EU member country or equivalent, and compatible with one of the three-year undergraduate degrees indicated in the attached document “Required Academic Qualifications for Access to the Graduate Degree”, valid for admission to an Italian university.Upon graduation, such candidates must submit a Diploma Supplement issued by the institution that conferred the undergraduate degree by the start of lessons and activities.
• Candidates in possession of, or in the process of obtaining a three-year undergraduate degree from a non-Italian university accredited in a non-EU or equivalent country, and compatible with one of the three-year undergraduate degrees indicated in the attached document “Required Academic Qualifications for Access to the Graduate Degree”, valid for admission to an Italian university.

Upon graduation, such candidates must:

Option a) obtain a Statement of Comparability (SoC) from Enic-Naric (CIMEA) CIMEA, the Italian branch of ENIC-NARIC (European Network of Information Centres - National Academic Recognition Information Centres) determines the equivalency of academic titles online by issuing a Statement of Comparability (SoC).

Option b) Obtain a Declaration of Value from the Italian Consulate. The DV is a document that certifies both the comparability and authenticity of study title. The DV can only be issued by the Italian consulate or embassy in the country where your Bachelor diploma was awarded; more specifically, the Italian embassy or consulate with jurisdiction over the area in which your degree was awarded. You should be aware that it can be a time-consuming process.

Option c) For US graduates only: obtain a Bachelor diploma verification through National Student Clearinghouse. Those students with US titles may request a Bachelor diploma Verification from National Student Clearinghouse in lieu of either the DV or the SoC. The cost of the service is around 15 USD. IMPORTANT: candidates not yet in possession of their Bachelor degree, or rather, still in the process of graduating, will be enrolled conditionally in the Graduate Degree program, pending written proof of having obtained their Bachelor degree by the last available exam session for the 2024/2025 academic year.

For non-English mother tongue students an English language proficiency of at least level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is required.

The following requirements are considered valid:

- university degree (or high school diploma) obtained in the English language

or

- one of the following international English language certifications in ORIGINAL.

In alternative to certification:

- English-language on-line interview with an English-speaking teacher from the University.

• Follow the entire Registration Process
• At the end of the registration, on the top right of the MENU select Login
• Insert your username and password (defined during the registration process) and login into the Reserved Area
• On the top right of the MENU select Registrar Office – Pre-enrollment
• Choose the Two – year graduate degree in Food Industry Management

Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of the personal dossier (0-100 score)

A maximum of 40 students will be admitted for the A.Y. 2025-2026.

Personal dossier evaluation (Max score 100)

• Certificate of valid three-year Bachelor degree (or equivalent) with exams, grades, ECTS, Academic Discipline List (SSD), and the final grade, if achieved[1].
• A personal CV (preferably in EU format).
• Personal essay describing your motivations and reasons for applying to the Program (approx. 400-500 words)

[1] If issued by an Italian university: Self-certification (autocertificazione) of the undergraduate degree, or of the final grades received; if obtained from a university accredited by an EU-member state or equivalent: Diploma Supplement; if obtained from a university accredited by a non-EU (or equivalent) country: Declaration of Value (Dichiarazione di Valore) for the three-year Bachelor (or equivalent) issued by the relevant Italian consular authorities; Statement of Comparability (SoC); for US graduates only: obtain a Bachelor diploma verification through National Student Clearinghouse

UNISG students from the Undergraduate Degree Program (Laurea Triennale) can apply for the admission in one of the sessions and will be directly admitted to the Graduate Degree program, without any examination. All UNISG Undergraduate Degree Program (Laurea Triennale) students will receive a University Community Scholarship that consists of a one-time reduction of €4,000 on the fee of the first year and second year. This scholarship cannot be cumulated with any other UNISG fee exemption.

You can choose to apply in one of the admission sessions indicated below in the chart.If you intend to apply for UNISG scholarship, you are required to apply in the first two sessions. You are strongly recommended to read the announcements relating to UNISG scholarship on the Unisg website (Scholarships & Financial Aid page).

• The minimum score to be admitted is 70/100.
• Candidates will be admitted according to a score based ranking list compiled for each session, until the admission limits for the current academic year will be reached.

You will be notified on your admission by email according to the above-mentioned deadlines.

Candidates will be able to view their ranking position, directly on their webpage by logging in to https://unisg.esse3.cineca.it/Start.do.

To confirm acceptance of admission, the applicant can proceed via the web to the pre-enrollment process and immediately thereafter pay a deposit of 2,000 euros within a maximum of one week after the outcome is announced.

If the candidate will not proceed with the pre-enrollment within the abovementioned deadlines, he will be removed from ranking.

Immediately after submitting your Dossier, is possible to pay through PagoPA services by accessing your personal portal with your credentials: go to the Pre-enrollment summary and click on the button PAYMENTS at the bottom of the page.

Candidates admitted will subsequently be able to complete enrollment by paying the first part of the university fee within the deadlines indicated (as per the University fee payment procedures available on www.unisg.it).

Admitted candidates who have not yet obtained their three-year undergraduate degree will be conditionally enrolled, pending the verification of the student self-certification or Bachelor diploma, which must be obtained from the university of origin prior to the last exam session for the 2023/2024 academic year

CANDIDATES ADMITTED TO OR ENROLLED IN OTHER UNIVERSITIES

Candidates admitted to or enrolled in academic programs at other universities must complete the online application process, take the admission test and submit the appropriate form.
Candidates that have already passed certain exams may apply to have these examination grades recognized by submitting the appropriate application no later than December 31, 2025.

Important note for non-EU candidates:

All non-EU applicants must contact their local Italian consulate as soon as possible and not later than the end of June, as a first step in obtaining a study visa. Considering the complexity of the process, we strongly encourage you to book an appointment well in advance. Additionally, all Non-EU candidates are required to pre-enroll through the consulate, a process that must be completed online through the Universitaly portal, in order to then apply for a study visa.

As appointments are limited, such students should book an appointment with the relevant consular representative even prior to their admission to the program in order to complete the pre-enrollment and visa request processes successfully and within the necessary time frame.
