The book explores the role of food in the Fascist occupation of Ethiopia, highlighting how Mussolini's regime attempted to transform Ethiopia into Italy's granary to strengthen the country's food self-sufficiency and demographic expansion. Despite the failure of these plans, the interaction between Ethiopian and Italian food cultures led to the creation of a hybrid cuisine, offering new perspectives on the impact of the Italian Empire in East Africa.
