{"id":8676,"date":"2006-04-06T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2006-04-05T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unisg.it\/press-office\/new-animal-husbandry-stage\/"},"modified":"2012-08-29T12:16:15","modified_gmt":"2012-08-29T10:16:15","slug":"new-animal-husbandry-stage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unisg.it\/en\/new-animal-husbandry-stage\/","title":{"rendered":"New Animal Husbandry Stage"},"content":{"rendered":"<div align=\"center\">\n<h3><strong>New Thematic Stage on Animal Husbandry for Second-Year Students<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h4><strong>Five Days to Study how Cows, Pigs, Sheep and Chickens are Bred and Raised<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<p>From <strong>April 10 to 14<\/strong> the second-year students of the University<br \/>\nof Gastronomic Sciences will be focussing their studies on the theme of<br \/>\nanimal husbandry, looking at how animals are farmed in Piedmont and<br \/>\nEmilia-Romagna.<\/p>\n<p>The group based in <strong>Piedmont<\/strong> will have the opportunity to compare<br \/>\norganic or artisanal farming methods with more conventional ones. After<br \/>\nintroductory lessons on the history of animal husbandry, physiology and<br \/>\nanatomy,\u00a0 the students will go on a series of visits that will<br \/>\ntake them to an organic and a conventional animal feed company, a<br \/>\nfree-range and a conventional pig farm, a conventional poultry farm and<br \/>\na free-range breeder of Tonco capons. The week will conclude with a<br \/>\ntour of two fish farms and a guided tasting of trout products.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile in <strong>Emilia-Romagna<\/strong> another group will be visiting farms<br \/>\nand processing facilities in Romagna, the eastern part of the region.<br \/>\nOne day will be dedicated to chicken, and includes lessons on chicken<br \/>\nspecies, breeding methods and the supply chain, a visit to a<br \/>\nslaughterhouse and an egg factory, and a lunch based on chicken meat.<br \/>\nAnother day covers sheeps and pigs, with visits to a cheese-producing<br \/>\nsheep farm and a lamb-tasting dinner.
