Born in Turin, Italy, Lorenzo Bairati received his law degree from the University of Turin in 2004 with a thesis on legal transplants of European private law in Latin America. He worked at the University of Turin as a teaching and research assistant for the Comparative Law course, focusing his studies on the method of comparative law, with special attention paid to the processes of harmonization, uniformity, and unification of legal systems within supranational organizations, such as the European Union and Mercosur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Immediately following his undergraduate studies, Lorenzo Bairati participated in several national and international projects aimed at facilitating the national implementation of European Union policy within the areas of European private law, conflict of laws, unjust enrichment, unfair competition, consumer protection, civil procedure, enforcement of judgements and uniform terminology for legal translations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After obtaining his Ph.D from the University of Florence (Italy), Lorenzo Bairati worked as a research fellow from 2010 to 2013 focusing on the complexity of legal sources and the multiplicity of levels of government in the European Union. His research was centered on the institutional tools needed to ensure adequate compliance with the obligations related to the participation in European dynamics within legal orders characterized by strong devolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 2013 to 2017, Lorenzo Bairati was a researcher at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo (Italy) teaching courses on Food Law and European Union Law while also developing collaborative projects with other research institutions whose work focused on comparative law and global food law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since May 2017, Lorenzo Bairati has become an Associate Professor of Comparative Private Law. His current research and publication projects include global food governance, international food trade law and food consumer protection from a comparative perspective. In particular, his latest research has focused on the consumer\u2019s right to be informed, the protection of agri-food quality in a comparative perspective, the role of private regulators in the food sector and the global governance of transnational food systems.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n\n
