In the classroom, students from 17 different nationalities will arrive: Italy, Brazil, Korea, the Philippines, Georgia, Germany, Ghana, Japan, Guatemala, Israel, Kenya, Mexico, the United Kingdom, the United States, Switzerland, Turkey, Uganda.

The academic activities at the University of Gastronomic Sciences will begin in full swing on Monday, September 16. For the new students of the undergraduate program in Gastronomic Sciences and Cultures and the master’s program in Food Innovation & Management, the week kicks off with orientation, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the Pollenza university community. The new students come from Italy, Brazil, Korea, the Philippines, Georgia, Germany, Ghana, Japan, Guatemala, Israel, Kenya, Mexico, the United Kingdom, the United States, Switzerland, Turkey, and Uganda.

Throughout the week, the new students will be welcomed by UNISG President Carlo Petrini and the new Rector Nicola Perullo. They will be introduced to university life in Pollenzo through meetings with their respective course convenors and academic staff. Socialization opportunities, such as a welcome aperitif at the Academic Tables, will also be part of the program.

Day by day, the new students will get to know the UNISG Student Association and various student council representatives, as well as the UNISG Alumni network, with their professional and creative experiences. There will also be a presentation of the new edition of Terra Madre & Salone del Gusto, which will take place from September 26 to 30, and students, as usual, are invited to participate.

Additionally, the students will become familiar with the university’s various operational sectors through meetings with the administrative staff. The week will conclude with a guided tour of the UNISG campus to discover the various services and laboratories available, as well as a meeting with those in charge of the educational gardens.

The 2024-25 academic year in Pollenzo also brings some new features: two new Master’s programs have been added to UNISG’s educational offerings. These are the Executive Master in Circular Economy for Food, focused on the circular economy in the food sector and designed for professionals and managers who wish to lead the way toward sustainability and ecological transition, and the Hybrid Master in Local Food Policy, dedicated to those who want to work in local food chains and policies, specifically in the planning of sustainable territorial food systems.

The Master’s programs will start in January 2025.
