Presentation of the volume Glossario della Sostenibilità – with Mattia Caravella, Barbara Franco

This Glossary stems from the awareness of the importance of sustainability as a guiding value for modern society. The increasingly evident and devastating signs of climate change underscore the urgency of adopting virtuous behaviors, both at a personal level and in the professional and productive spheres.
Today, sustainability represents a complex and multidimensional philosophy that encompasses environmental, energy, social, and ethical themes, focusing not only on equity among human beings but also on the respect and protection of other living species.
This holistic approach contributes to maintaining the delicate balances of our planet, for the benefit of present and future generations. However, the terms and concepts revolving around sustainability, despite having entered common language, can generate confusion.
The creation of the Glossary required a careful selection and definition of the most relevant terms within the context of sustainability. The main objective was to offer a clear and accessible guide to understanding both the challenges we face and the possible solutions.
The Glossary also demonstrates the existence of a multitude of ideas and initiatives across all fields of human knowledge and ‘know-how.’ True change, however, requires a global cultural transformation: a shared commitment that leads us to act as a single community.
This project aims to be a concrete response to this necessity, promoting awareness and incentivizing sustainable practices in the territory where we operate. The hope is that this Glossary becomes a valuable resource for students, professionals, and agents of change, helping them navigate the complex language of sustainability. Thus, this project represents a step towards greater collective sensitivity and shared sustainable action, fostering social, environmental, and economic progress.
The “Sustainability Glossary” project was developed by Andriani Educational, the initiative of Andriani S.p.A. Società Benefit dedicated to food education and sustainability.
Created in collaboration with Scuola Holden, the glossary includes a Map of Sustainability, conceived as a network of interconnected concepts that guides the reader through the main themes of sustainability. The publisher Gribaudo chose to publish this important work, giving it further value and accessibility, with the aim of raising awareness among an ever-wider audience on issues fundamental to the planet’s future.
The conference will be held on November 13 2025 at 5.15 p.m in the Aula Miroglio
