BIOGRAPHY

Nicholas (Nico) graduated from Wageningen University & Research, Netherlands, in 2019 with a Master of Science in Organic Agriculture, focusing on Agroecology and Education. He is a true believer that if we want to tackle complex food system challenges, higher education needs to prepare students to think critically and act systemically.

Currently, Nico’s in-class activities involve facilitating learning activities for a group of students with diverse cultural and professional backgrounds, taking experiential and action-based approaches to learning and research. Through this work, he is regularly connected with pioneering farmers and leading organizations working to facilitate agroecological transitions, such as Slow Food, Agroecology Europe Youth Network, La Via Campesina, and more.

Through his research activities in the NextFood project (EU), Nico is contributing to the development of an innovative European science and education roadmap for sustainable agriculture, supporting a paradigm shift from a linear to a cyclical approach of learning.
