BIOGRAPHY
Dauro Mattia Zocchi (Merate, 1990) is a gastronome with expertise in the study of the dynamics underpinning the recognition, safeguarding and promotion of food heritage.
In 2012, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from the Università commerciale Luigi Bocconi. In 2017, he graduated “cum laude” from the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo with a Master’s degree course in Gestione e Promozione del Patrimonio Gastronomico e Turistico.
In 2022, he obtained a PhD in Eco-gastronomy, Education and Society at the same university, with a thesis entitled “Safeguarding and Promoting Food Heritage: A critical appraisal of the revival and promotion of rural and indigenous foods in Kenya”. For his PhD, he conducted transdisciplinary research in Kenya to explore the social and cultural dynamics underpinning the safeguarding and promotion of food heritage, focusing on forest beekeeping among the Ogiek communities of the Mau Forest.
His main research interests are food geography, foodscouting and the promotion of food heritage in emerging countries. He has carried out several research projects in Africa (Kenya and Tanzania) and Latin America (Peru) with the aim of mapping and documenting local food heritage in the framework of the Ark of Taste project.
Since 2020, he has been the scientific coordinator of the Ark of Taste project.
