BIOGRAPHY

Alessandra is a systemic designer and research fellow at the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo, with a PhD in Management, Production and Design, achieved with honors at the Politecnico di Torino, in 2021.

She is currently working on the European Project FUSILLI (European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Program), whose acronym means “Fostering the Urban food System Transformation through Innovative Living Labs Implementation“. The project aims to trigger a sustainable urban transformation in the agri-food sector by working in particular on the issues of the Circular Economy for Food and Urban Food Policies.

Alessandra also works within projects and researches concerning the relationship among Design, Food and Health (of which she is the author of several publications), aimed in particular at the generation of virtuous and sustainable local networks, with the aim of reducing and preventing the social and environmental costs of high impact food production and consumption models.

In 2017, she obtained a Master’s Degree in EcoDesign with honors, with a thesis that addresses the Application of Systemic Design to the agricultural scenario of Salento, aimed at preventing the CoDiRO strain, caused by the spread of the pathogen Xylella Fastidiosa in the local olive sector.

In 2014, she achieved the Bachelor’s Degree in Design and Visual Communication with honors at the Politecnico di Torino through a project aimed at product innovation in the field of food preparation and packaging systems, conducted in collaboration with the company Cuki Cofresco. S.p.A, finally attending the patent filing application.

Finally, Alessandra is co-founder of Omnia Torino, a think tank and independent association of young girls and boys with the aim of contributing to the construction of a sustainable future for Turin metropolitan area.
