The Migrant Speaker’s Corner is an informal area dedicated to open talks where migrants, socially involved organizations, local authorities, volunteers can share different experiences of hospitality and shelter, projects and activities.
11 am to 7.30 pm – UNISG classrooms – Screenings of out-of-competition films (“Before the Journey” and “During the Journey” sections)
12 pm to 4 pm – Academic Tables portico – Lunch prepared by migrant communities with traditional dishes from Senegal, the Donne dell’Africa Sub-Sahariana association (Côte d’Ivoire, Somalia), Peru and Palestine.

UNISG Study Trips in Support of Migrant Communities
UNISG’s study trips are a chance to value the cultural heritage of a place and meet the local communities living there. The MFF will serve as a way to intercept new stories and virtuous projects from migrant communities, creating opportunities for new trips.

Anti-Gypsyism and Rom Migrations: Results of the European MIGROM Research
Introduced and moderated by Andrea Pieroni, professor of Food Biodiversity Sciences and Ethnobotany at the University of Gastronomic Sciences.
3 pm – Church of San Vittore football pitch – Balon Mundial
Football tournament in collaboration with Balon Mundial, a Turin-based non-profit association that uses sport as an educational tool to encourage intercultural cohesion. The Mundial 2017 will kick off at the same time as the Pollenzo tournament, a connection between the Cas/Sprar refugees brought to Pollenzo by different socially active organizations and the UNISG students.

Sports tournaments (volleyball, basketball, dodgeball and ping pong) with free participation.

Giochi di Luci e Ombre (Days of Light and Shade)
Organized by the Opera prison and performed by detainees and students from the Cultural Mediation course at the University of Milano-Bicocca.

Meeting between the jury, guests and migrant communities and introduction to a collective iftar, the breaking of the day’s Ramadan fast.

Sunday June 11
10 am – Agenzia di Pollenzo lawn – Migrants’ Cafè
Based on the World Café model, with tables for discussing and sharing ideas about relevant issues, the Migrants’ Café is open to a limited number of people (students, guests, migrants, representatives of institutions) with the aim of identifying a concrete project linked to the presence of migrants in the local area.

Round table moderated by Nicola Perullo, professor of Esthetics at the University of Gastronomic Sciences, part of the “Cucina politica” PRIN 2017-2020.

Organized by UNISG students with migrant communities and open to a limited number of people, invited guests and jury members, the Eat-In is a collective feast where everyone brings food or drink to share with other diners.
8.30 pm – Agenzia di Pollenzo lawn – Performance

9 pm – Agenzia di Pollenzo lawn – Welcome and Hospitality Happening
The event’s protagonists, associations, migrant communities, volunteers, artists, students, social operators and academics come together on the Migranti Film Festival stage to construct a symbolic live film about welcome and hospitality.

Side Events & Activities
Throughout the Migranti Film Festival, the UNISG campus will be animated by additional events, meetings, educational activities and workshops designed and run by students.
Tasting Workshop on drinks at the Pollenzo Cookery School.
Workshop for children inspired by Fabio Geda’s book “Nel mare ci sono coccodrilli” (In the Sea There Are Crocodiles) with the book’s subject, Enaiatollah Akbari.
Sports tournaments: volleyball, ping pong, basketball, dodgeball, football.
Activities and shows organized by the Giovani Genitori association.
Introductory courses on African languages and cultures.
During the course of the festival, the University of Gastronomic Sciences will welcome associations, delegations and representatives of international communities, asylum seekers and refugees in the local area, to facilitate opportunities for meeting, dialog, exchange and reciprocal understanding.
