Raivo Kalle is an ethnobiologist. He has an undergraduate degree in natural resource use and conservation, MSc in Botany and Mycology and in 2017 he defended his doctorate in applied biology at the Estonian University of Life Sciences. In his research he had mainly focused on the use of wild food plants, conducting field work in Estonia, Latvia and Belarus. At the UNISG he is a research fellow working on ethnic minorities residing in the border area, cultural contacts, the impact of reduced species richness on plant use, and the impact of different economic models (controlled economy and market economy) on natural resources use.
