Piercarlo Grimaldi
Biography
Piercarlo Grimaldi was born in Cossano Belbo in 1945, and is a full professor at the University of Gastronomic Sciences, where he teaches Cultural Anthropology. In October 2011, he was named Dean of the university.
Grimaldi is a member of the jury and coordinator of the Costantino Nigra Ethnoanthropology Prize, as well as the editorial committee of the Bollettino dell'Atlante Linguistico Italiano (University of Torino), the scientific committee of the Quaderni di Studi Italiani e Romeni (University of Torino, Universitatea din Craiova), and of the scientific committee of the Cesare Pavese Foundation. Since 1993, he has served as director of the Documenti e ricerche di etnologia europea series from the Omega di Torino publishing house, and since 1998 has been a member of the Commissione Nazionale dei beni demo-etno-antropologici

Analysis of celebrations and ceremonies that reveal temporal traditions.
Study of visual documentation, particularly the use of cinematographic tools in anthropological research.
Observation, filing, and database archiving, and analysis of ritual structures.
Planning of virtual museums focusing on the forms and practices of celebrations and their traditional productive practices.
Planning and execution of atlases and maps featuring ethnographic data.
Research on traditional food calendars.
