Biography

From 1983 to 2007, Claudio Malagoli was professor of Territorial and Environmental Evaluation in the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Bologna. Since 2007, he has been a faculty member at the University of Gastronomic Sciences, and in 2011 was named full professor for the AGR01 grouping. He is a member of the Commissione ministeriale di verifica degli OGM in agricoltura and the Comitato operativo con il compito di valutare l'impiego di OGM in agricoltura, both a part of the Italian Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Forestry. Previously, he was a member of the Ministry of Health's Commissione interministeriale per la valutazione delle notifiche ai fini della commercializzazione dei nuovi prodotti e nuovi ingredienti alimentari (novel foods).

Under the Indagine Conoscitiva on GMOs, Professor Malagoli spoke before the Commissione Agricoltura del Senato della Repubblica on the socio-economic impact of GMOs in Italian Agriculture, and between 2003 and 2006, he was part of the Techno-Scientific Council of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Forestry. He is currently an evaluator of geopositioning systems on behalf of the Ministry of Research.
